On Friday we went to have the eye-test. Victoria had been practicing signing the pictures which are used in the test. With her left eye covered she could see (and signed enthusiastically) almost all of the pictures shown (in various sizes) from across the room. Then with her right eye covered she adjusted her position and evidently struggled to see any but the biggest of the images shown to her. The lady testing thinks it could be because she was losing interest- however, I happen to know that Victoria WANTED to say what the pictures were (she tried one sign after another!!). She has another appointment for June at which the eyes will be tested the other way round.

Victoria's favorite song at the moment is 'head shoulders knees and toes' - though a close second is 'wind the bobbin up'. She likes watching 'get up and go' a DVD with songs and silly things to do (with Dave Benson Phillips). She doesn't get it more than once a week - though she is ever hopeful and has her own sign for asking if she can have a film on (a sort of variation of the 'music' sign).
Just recently she has been a bit difficult in the morning 'education' sessions. This mornign when she got out of bed she just bypassed my room altogether and when she was brought back was keen to escape straight away! I thought, in the circumstances, I ought to concentrate on fun and speech-sounds rather than the reading and matching of names.
On Saturday Victoria enjoyed a visit to Wisley Garden and especially the flowers in the glasshouse.
