Last week we had an appointment to get Victoria's eyes checked - they're fine. next time, with the help of some pictures which she ought to be able to make the signs for, they can test how far she can see.
We have the date for the cardiac catheterisation but have to wait to hear from the people in charge of booking beds - we expect to go on Monday mng, early.
Before that, on Friday, Victoria has an appointment to ahve her ears tested. I think they are fine but there's not much use thinking about speech therapy if she's not had her hearing tested.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting a delightful young lady, 20 years old, who has down syndrome and has been homeschooled. What an inspiration she is. I wish I'd taken my camera, but I'll not forget her anyway. She plays her part in a busy household. She still needs to learn things and so she continues, with her younger siblings, to learn at her own rate. Along with that she is an invaluable help in the kitchen and the household generally. She likes poetry and she writes. She knows what it is to be insulted and ridiculed, and she deals with it in a very gracious manner, not feeling bitter (as I would) against those who despise her. Of such is the kingdom of heaven....
